Technical Specifications

The Kona EV is available with two powertrain options that offer different power outputs and driving range. The Short Range variant is powered by a 39.2kWh battery pack that provides a range of 300km. It makes 133bhp of maximum power and can make the 0-100kmph sprint in 9.3 seconds. The Long Range version is powered by a 64kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 470km. It produces 201bhp with and does 0-100kmph in 7.6 seconds. The 39.2kWh version can be fully charged in 6 hours, while the 64kWh battery pack takes around 9 hours to charge.

Exterior and Design

On the whole, the Kona looks good. Although it has a visually compact footprint, it shows off a wide track and wheelbase which makes for an unmistakably sporty stance. The ultra-sleek DRLs and air dams together make for a rather aggressive fascia; what we’d term as an almost perfect nose. It’s only let down is by the closed grille with a charging port at a corner which ironically gives it the appearance of a toy. Otherwise, the shapely black cladding, skid plates, and large wheels lend this vehicle its much-needed SUV character to stand out from the regular crowd.
